Your assignment:
As future elementary school teachers, it is my hope (and the hope of others in
the education and science faculty) that you will implement hands-on science
experiments in your classrooms. Much of what we have done in this course
is adaptable to several grade levels. For this assignment, you will take
some exercises that we have done and change them so that a certain grade level
(for you to decide) child can do them. You need to write up the lab
exercises and questions. Make sure to connect the grade level with
the appropriate SOL.
Feel free to draw from your education classes as you develop the lab
exercises. If you are not an education major, do your best, you will not
be penalized for not knowing the same material as the education
majors.
Questions to address:
What is the goal of your hands-on activities?
How will you know if the learning goals have been met?
Try your best to make these labs useful for other
teachers. For example, include a list of materials necessary to complete
the work.
This assignment will count as twice a regular homework assignment.
