Prelab to Conservation of Angular Momentum: Rotation Collisions

Due at the beginning of your lab period (January 25/26)

1.    Read the lab handout.  (Available through the web page)
2.    Find the rotational inertia for the disk (rotating about is central axis) and rectangle or slab (rotating about its center).  These can be found in your textbook.
3.    In the lab report I refer to L before and L after the collision.   For the case of colliding disks, write the formula for conservation of angular momentum in terms of the mass, radius, and angular velocity of the disks.  Note that the two disks need not have the same mass or radius.
