  • Set up web page to post results
  • Read about absorption and stimulated and  spontaneous emission in Koechner, Laser Engineering
  • Solve population rate equations from Erbium fiber paper for steady state case.  Be ready to write program next week.
week 2 January 21
  • Get started with Fortran, write program to calculate N1, N2, N3 for steady state case
  • Work on solving the time dependent rate equations (one way to approach this would be to solve a simple case first...)
  • Work on Student Research Grant Proposal
week 3 January 28
  • Work on Student Research Grant Proposal
week 4 February 4
  • Work on solving the time dependent rate equations 
week 5 February 11
  • Work on getting Fortran working correctly
week 6 February 18
  • Switch to Basic because of computer issues, keep working on Fortran
  • Get those time dependent rate equations in basic
